Nice video mate. I just did this on my 22 Metanium shallow spool edition. Its worth noting that the retaining clip has been replaced with a rubber O ring, so the upgrade is less tedious on the 22 version.

I have been a Lews man for over fifteen years but the last three reels I have bought are Diawa and I don’t think that I will be going back to Lews . I have only got the tatulas around the 260.00 level but I did get a 500.00 jdm from TW on close out for 300.00 and they are awesome for what I do . I am not a tournament fishermen but I do catch a lot of big bass and I need good quality stuff to rely on . I have also started using some Diawa rods , I have a few tatula elite ags rods so far and I am slowly going to be getting more as I can afford them I do have 4 dobyns rods as well and I can’t complain about them either . Enough good things can’t be said about proper reel maintenance either it means so much to the performance of your reels.

how do these older gen steez reels compare to the newer ones?

I’ve got 3 jig rods I use depending on the cover I’m fishing in Florida. 7’5” Trika 6X MHF, Falcon Cara 6-174 heavy cover jig rod is phenomenal and my 7’2” MHF Shimano Expride A with a Diawa Zillion I will put up against anything on the market besides NRX. I’ve beaten the snot out of that rod and it’s still ticking

I have 4. They perform at least as well as Rods costing much more. Mine are 3 years old. No issues. They are my go to equipment….

Why would you install these Chinese ceramic hybrids that are noisy as hell when the originals that come with the reel are pretty much as good as it gets, and are perfectly silent? Talk about a waste of time and money. Upgrading bearings is only worth it for sub $150 reels, and even then, you grab something from hedgehog, ktf or zpi, not some aliexpress grade Bocas.

Hey. Thinking about adding a Tatula to my lineup in the future, will mostly throw chatterbaits on it. Do you think the 103 is the way to go? So many models with Daiwa it’s a bit confusing.

I got a dilemma I’ve been told you have to change gear shaft to a longer one to fit the 7 disc drag is this true are does this only applie to if your putting a swept bent handle on it also is there certain clicking drag stars that’s compatible with a stright handle

I used the Babes for the first time yesterday. I had the same experience with the sticky residue. I found I'd have to follow with a second coat to get the sticky off. Afterwards, I read the instructions and they stated to wipe it down with a damp rag. I was using a dry rag so I'll try again tomorrow with a damp rag. I've found straight up Ducky or Boat Juice are the best for getting off harsh water spots.
